Joshua speaks to the rich young man
55 And when he was gone forth into the way, there came a
certain ruler, running, and kneeled to him, and asked him, Good Master, what
shall I do that I may inherit eternal life?
56 And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.
57 He saith unto him, Which? Joshua said, Thou shalt do no murder, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Defraud not,
58 Honour thy father and thy mother: and, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
59 The young man saith unto him, All these things have I kept from my youth up: what lack I yet?
60 Now when Joshua heard these things,
61 Then Joshua beholding him loved him, and said unto him, One thing thou lackest, If thou wilt be perfect, go thy way, sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, take up the cross, and follow me.
62 And when the young man heard this, he was very sorrowful: for he had great possessions (very rich.)
63 And when Joshua saw that he was very sorrowful, he looked round about, and he said, saith unto his disciples, How hardly shall they that have riches enter into the kingdom of God!
64 When his disciples heard it, they were exceedingly amazed, at his words . But Joshua answereth again, and saith unto them, Children, how hard is it for them that trust in riches to enter into the kingdom of God!
65 For it is easier for a camel to go through a needle's eye, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.When his disciples heard it, they were exceedingly amazed out of measure, at his words saying among themselves, Who then can be saved?
66 And Joshua looking upon them saith, With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible.
67 Then Peter began to say unto him, Lo, we have left all, and have followed thee what shall we have therefore? And Joshua said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That ye which have followed me, in the regeneration when the Son of man shall sit in the throne of his glory, ye also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.
68 And Joshua answered and said, Verily I say unto you, There is no man that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my sake, and the gospel's.
69 But he shall receive an hundredfold now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the world to come eternal life.
70 But many that are first shall be last; and the last first.
