12 On the next day much people that were come to the feast [ of the Passover
], when they heard that Joshua was coming to Jerusalem, they cut down branches off the trees, and strawed them in the way. to meet him, and cried, Hosanna: Blessed is the King of Israel the son of David that cometh in the name of the Lord. ; Hosanna in the highest.
13 And they brought the colt to Joshua (and Joshua, when he had found a young ass,) sat thereon;
14 All this
was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying,
15 Tell ye the daughter of Sion, Behold, thy King cometh unto thee, meek, and sitting upon an ass, and a colt, the foal of an ass.
16 [ The second binding according to Gen 49:11, fulfilling the words of Israel, the son of Isaac whose father was Abraham, saying unto the house of Judah his fourth son, to yield the philosophical binding of the Passover Lamb to be slain on the 14th day on the 10th day of the first month.

17 These things understood not his disciples at the first:[ entry
] but when Joshua was glorified, then remembered they that these things were written of him, and that they had done these things unto him.
18 The people therefore that was with him when he called Lazarus out of his grave, and raised him from the dead, bare record. For this cause the people also met him, for that they heard that he had done this miracle.
19 The Pharisees therefore said among themselves, Perceive ye how ye prevail nothing? behold, the world is gone
after him.
20 Now when he was in Jerusalem at the passover, in the feast day,
many believed in his name, when they saw the miracles which he did. But Joshua did not commit himself unto them, because he knew all men, and needed not that any should testify of man: for he knew what was in man.
